HKEX: HKEX Celebrates a Milestone Year in MSCI Index Derivatives Trading

Season’s greeting! 2020 has been an unusual year for investors worldwide. Asia’s derivatives market has stayed resilient throughout the pandemic and was given a further boost by the launch of HKEX’s MSCI Index Derivatives in the middle of the year.

Since the first contract started trading six months ago, HKEX’s MSCI offerings now include 29 CFTC-certified equity index futures covering key markets in Asia and beyond, with a total open interest of 34,369 contracts as of 15 December. More notably, the CFTC-certified MSCI EM Asia NTR (USD) Index Futures recorded strong inflow, with OI reaching 20,513 contracts on the same day. See the full list of MSCI products at HKEX here >

HKEX’s MSCI Taiwan (USD) Index Options are expected to launch soon in 2021, along with more market structural enhancements at Asia’s derivatives trading hub.
