PhillipCapital hosted its 4th annual Trading Asia Symposium on October 18, 2016 with eight Asian exchanges: Bursa Malaysia Derivatives, Dubai Gold & Commodities Exchange, Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing, ICE Futures Singapore, Japan Exchange Group, Singapore Exchange, Thailand Futures Exchange and Tokyo Commodity Exchange.
We rebranded the event with a new logo and changed things up by including a short speed networking event before the panel discussion and giving the audience
greater opportunities to participate during the panel via Sli.do polling and submitting their questions online.
PhillipCapital CEO Lynette Lim opened the symposium by reimagining the classic book “Around the World in 80 Days,” setting it in term of today’s financial environment. She contrasted the rise of the British empire in the book with the present day post Brexit reverberations and went on to touch on the rise of China and the side effects technology has brought to globalization. The panel discussion, comprised of the eight Asian exchanges, was split into two groups to facilitate more focused discussion and covered topics ranging from volume growth, brand maintenance, and how the opening of China’s markets would impact them.
